Nuvo Tonic Mousse Fall Leaves

I have one more fall card for you before moving to Holiday cards.  I usually start those around December 1st!  So, until then, I have another beautiful fall card for you in which I used the Nuvo Tonic Mousse to create some metallic leaves.  These cards just made me so happy!  I loved this product - as a matter of fact, I have loved every single product that I have tried from the Nuvo Tonic line.  They are honestly incredible!

I will admit that the week was a difficult one for me physically due to health issues.  I believe it is reflected a bit in the making of the card (my hands were not doing well) and in my voice over so I do apologize for that.  But, as I always say to push me through - "It is what it is and everything always works out".  So, I'm very hopeful to start feeling better and to have some additional posts and videos up for you soon.  Yay!

To make these cards I started with two card bases out of card stock from Stampin' Up and Simon Says Stamp.  I took the wonderful leaf stencil (purchased on eBay for very cheap!) and added that to some white Simon Says Stamp card stock and taped it down with my painters tape.  I added the Nuvo Mousse in Cosmic Brown and Lemon Sorbet to create the two fall colors that I was going for.  I immediately cleaned the stencil and my tools (they cleaned very easy with soap and water) and allowed the leaves to dry overnight.  I cut out the sets of leaves and separated them for two cards.

For the first, I used a fall stamp set (I'm sorry I do not know the name of the stamp set nor the manufacturer - I got it on eBay 😳) that had beautiful handwritten type sentiments with "thanks" and fall related words.  I used the Hero Arts vintage ombre' ink pad to give me a metallic rust type look.  On the other card, I used the Lawn Fawn scripted sentiments and one strip of the Hero Arts vintage ombre' pad to create a sentiment across the bottom of the card.  I also added some Studio Calico metallic pearls I had in my stash that matched perfectly.  These cards came together beautifully and I cannot wait to use more of these Nuvo products!

Week Three - 30 Day Coloring Challenge

I'm sorry I'm a little late on the post - I had a terrible week of pain and didn't leave my room for six days straight (a dark, quiet, temperature controlled room is extremely boring BTW - grrrr!) - but I still managed to get some coloring in.  I am committed to this art therapy bit!!!  So, following are just a few of the items I did for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge this past week.  As I mentioned before, some are harder than others because of the way that I have to hold the pens/pencils/brushes and because of the lines, etc.  It is a challenge sometimes to just stay in the lines!!!  But I am still enjoying it and that is what matters.

Next week is the last week of the official coloring challenge, but I will keep up with the coloring (although probably not every single day) as part of my card making and art therapy for the stroke rehabilitation on my arms.  Every small victory is a big victory in my book.  It means that I am moving from my life of "existing" to actually "living" again.  That is a very important thing to me!

Smile!!!

Yep - just as simple as that.  Smile!  That is what you have to do many times no matter what is going on around you - smile through it.  That is what I do often; I smile through the pain and other issues I have.  Oh, I'll be honest, I'm grumpy a lot too (no one is perfect)!!!  But, it all comes down to trying to be positive and working through it.  That's what I was thinking when I made this card.  I was hurting really bad but I loved the way it turned out.  I loved the fall leaves and fall is my favorite time of year.  I also loved the very simple sentiment - just "smile".  So, instead of sending it out to someone, I decided to give it to my husband for Thanksgiving to let him know that I was thankful for him and that he makes me smile no matter what.  By the way, that way I get to keep the card around to look at (no hidden motivation or anything!).  😊

I started with some orange card stock from Stampin' Up and added a little bit of green card stock from Simon Says Stamp that I cut with the dies that came with my We R' Memory Keepers Evolution die cutting machine.  I added that to the card with some foam tape for added dimension.  I had cut the Hero Arts dimensional leaf die out of white card stock twice on the fold so I would have a full leaf and used Tim Holtz distress stain in tarnished brass and antiqued bronze to paint the leaves.  I let them dry overnight and they just turned out so fun!!!  I then attached them to the card at angles with a bit of tape runner and simply added the sentiment "Smile" from an older Lawn Fawn stamp set that I had in Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink.  Done, and done!

This card made me smile (and, then made my husband smile when I gave it to him) which is the purpose of cards in the first place.  And, believe me, after this week, I truly needed some smiles!!! 😷
