Hey Jude Cards: Give Thanks

I don't like mice in real life - I mean I don't have anything against them personally but I don't want to come across them and have a conversation or anything!!! But, on a card - yep, super cute! Thus, this little "Give Thanks" card I made with the Lawn Fawn Thankful Mice set. It features two super cute mice and a piece of cheese (appropriate!) as well as some super cute little Pilgrim hats! Adorbs!!!

Give Thanks with a grateful heart :-)

I used the Lawn Fawn 4-Bar wood grain card base in brown as the base and cut out a circle with the Lawn Fawn large stitched circle die set. I then stamped the little critters and their cheese on a separate piece of white Simon Says Stamp card stock scrap that I had and colored them in with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I have listed the markers I used below. I noticed that I had some stickers from my Scarlet Lime Planner Society monthly kit that matched perfectly so I used those around the circle after I had stamped the sentiment in Tim Holtz distress ink in Walnut Stain. I did have to cut the stamp itself in half to get it to fit into the circle, but I don't mind that as I can always just put it back together exactly as it came on my stamp block for future use. This way I have more uses out of it! I used those stickers for arrows pointing into the card and then stamped the inside with Tim Holtz distress ink in Peeled Paint and a sentiment from my My Favorite Things Geometric Greenery set that I felt was just perfect for this sweet little card. It just made me so happy!!!! Finally, I added one more little sticker from the sticker set on the inside to complete the card.

About Me

I have always loved cards and have forever been known as the "card lady"!!! However, only recently have I had the privilege of learning to love the art of card making, planning, and all things crafty. This is due to having to find a means of rehabilitation for my arms & hands after suffering a stroke, followed by a TIA a few months later. I was tasked with choosing therapy to regain strength and use in my arms, so I chose card making over standard therapy so I could do it from home. I was already doing speech therapy from home as a result of the stroke so I thought this would be the thing for me. It turned out I was right!

A little about me personally -- I have mentioned that I am a stroke survivor, but I am so much more! I am a happy wife, a mother of four older children and a mother to four precious furbabies. I previously had a long successful career but am now disabled. I now focus on the joy in life as much as I can. Oh, and in the girlie arena, I am a girl to the core! Makeup, shoes, fashion, books, snowglobes, magazines - all girlie kinds of things are my jam!

I am an avid rescue animal supporter - most especially pitbulls - who I believe get a bad rap and are misunderstood. They are pretty much judged before meeting or knowing them or before having had a chance for them to show their worth --- much like many groups are nowadays. I truly want to make a difference for their innocent spirits and for those other groups too, if I am able. Every little bit helps - one small step at a time. :-)

We have all been through so much in life and there is just too much negativity in the world. I am hopeful to be part of a kindness movement and to take my second chance - my "sad song" that was made better - and share that kindness and joy with others. And, if we change some minds about not judging a book by its cover, about looking at the core of someone/something's soul for their beauty, and about reminding people every chance you can with every means possible that they are special and they brighten your day, then we are on the right path.

Maybe we can help them not carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Will you join me?
