"Hey Jude ... take a sad song & make it better!" - the Beatles

My goal is to turn my disabilities around to abilities using art therapy as a means of stroke rehabilitation on my hands & arms. I want to also use cards to spread kindness, show different fun card techniques, bring awareness to issues that are important to me, and to just spread joy in general!

Stroke Encouragement Cards - Unity Stamp Company

I did a couple of stroke encouragement cards recently.  Obviously, as a stroke survivor, this is something that I am passionate about.  I like to have cards that are thank you cards, encouragement cards, blessing cards, etc., on hand for some friends that I know of who are also stroke survivors.  I also send them to people who support me on the regular through all of my issues since the two strokes and help me day to day with the encouragement and love.

I Can't Imagine my Journey Without You

Often you can't find an actual "stroke survivor stamp" so I improvise.  Encouragement cards of all kinds would work - but I love it when I can make it more "stroke related".  I always love to use ribbon of encouragement cards - they can be for breast cancer, stroke survivors, autism, all kinds of things.  I love that because we need to support ALL of these things.  There are too many people suffering and support of any kind can make a difference.  Plus, an encouragement card specific to their particular battle makes a huge difference in their battle.  It means a lot to them; I know it means the world to me when I receive something stroke related.

So, that is why I used these awesome Unity Stamp Co. stamps for these stroke survivor and stroke encouragement cards.  I stamped the first card with the Unity Stamp Co Cure Girl stamp on watercolor paper and colored them in the with Spectrum Noir colored pencil sets.  I colored the ribbons red for stroke awareness and stroke survivors.  I used glossy accents on the red ribbons to make them stand out.  I then added the panel on top of a piece of card stock from my Scarlet Lime Planner Society monthly kit that I had cut out with the Blueprints 24 die from My Favorite Things.  I also used a piece of Tim Holtz embossed woodgrain paper and then rubbed gold ink over it with the Memento gold dew drop ink pad.  I added that panel to the card with foam tape to give it some dimension.  I then stamped the sentiment with Avery Elle Papaya ink to match the background.  This was all added to a piece of card stock from Simon Says Stamp cut down to A2 size and scored for a top folding card.

The second stroke encouragement card I made was also with a Unity Stamp Co. stamp (can you tell I love them??!!).  The Unity Stamp Co. Pain and Strength tree stamp set was perfect for this card.  I loved the image and I loved the sentiment!  Like I said - perfect!  I stamped the image onto white card stock and colored it in with the same Spectrum Noir colored markers.  I then die cut a circle frame with the Lawn Fawn stitched die circles and lifted that up with the foam tape.  I also cut a stitched marbled gray piece of card stock from that same Scarlet Lime Planner kit.  I added the sentiment with Avery Elle Vino ink onto a top folding card I made with some Simon Says Stamp paper and then added some Studio Calico rhinestones to the card as well as the centers of the larger flowers.  Another perfect encouragement card!

As you can see, they are wonderful encouragement cards that truly make me happy!  I love utilizing the stamps in this way.  I think I might even do a series!  How appropriate right?!  Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day!  Jude  :-)
