Birthday Haul

I have attached a link to my birthday haul - yep, I still celebrate birthdays!!! Every year is a great year above ground, ya know!!!! I received a lot of nice gifts this year from my husband and family and the majority of them were craft or art related this time, so I wanted to do a haul. Also, again, practicing the video, editing, blogging aspect so that I can eventually actually make card videos too - something I would LOVE to do!!! As you know, the crafts and artsy things are a new hobby for me - all related to the "art therapy" that I am doing to rehabilitate my arms and hands. And, honestly, it just makes me happy! And I always say, "Do what makes you happy"!!!!

About Me

I have always loved cards and have forever been known as the "card lady"!!! However, only recently have I had the privilege of learning to love the art of card making, planning, and all things crafty. This is due to having to find a means of rehabilitation for my arms & hands after suffering a stroke, followed by a TIA a few months later. I was tasked with choosing therapy to regain strength and use in my arms, so I chose card making over standard therapy so I could do it from home. I was already doing speech therapy from home as a result of the stroke so I thought this would be the thing for me. It turned out I was right!

A little about me personally -- I have mentioned that I am a stroke survivor, but I am so much more! I am a happy wife, a mother of four older children and a mother to four precious furbabies. I previously had a long successful career but am now disabled. I now focus on the joy in life as much as I can. Oh, and in the girlie arena, I am a girl to the core! Makeup, shoes, fashion, books, snowglobes, magazines - all girlie kinds of things are my jam!

I am an avid rescue animal supporter - most especially pitbulls - who I believe get a bad rap and are misunderstood. They are pretty much judged before meeting or knowing them or before having had a chance for them to show their worth --- much like many groups are nowadays. I truly want to make a difference for their innocent spirits and for those other groups too, if I am able. Every little bit helps - one small step at a time. :-)

We have all been through so much in life and there is just too much negativity in the world. I am hopeful to be part of a kindness movement and to take my second chance - my "sad song" that was made better - and share that kindness and joy with others. And, if we change some minds about not judging a book by its cover, about looking at the core of someone/something's soul for their beauty, and about reminding people every chance you can with every means possible that they are special and they brighten your day, then we are on the right path.

Maybe we can help them not carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Will you join me?
