"Hey Jude ... take a sad song & make it better!" - the Beatles

My goal is to turn my disabilities around to abilities using art therapy as a means of stroke rehabilitation on my hands & arms. I want to also use cards to spread kindness, show different fun card techniques, bring awareness to issues that are important to me, and to just spread joy in general!

This Little Piggy Beach Cards

I am not normally a "cute card" kind of a gal.  I mean, I like them but I like to normally make funny or different looking cards - at least that is what I am normally drawn to do.  However, this set just made me giddy!!!  It was so fun to create with and the minute I saw it I knew that I had to buy it because piggies and the beach = fun, fun, fun!!!  I just had a blast creating these cards and I hope you enjoy them too.

I started by using my texture sand embossing paste to create a beach scene for two of the cards.  On one of the cards I used the texture paste straight out of the jar and on the other I added Tea Dye Distress Ink to make it a bit more sandy looking.  The key with texture paste - or any embossing paste - is to clean up right away!  I have learned the hard way!!!!  I let these dry for a couple of hours and then I came back to color the tops of the cards in with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  I tried to make each of them look a bit different.  I also used the Spectrum Noir markers to color in the pigs, towels, rafts, and ball for the beach.  I used peach, tan and pink for the pigs in various tones and then used bright and fun colors for all of the beach accessories!  My favorite is the bikinis and the sun glasses - too cute!!!

Next I added foam tape to the back of the textured panels (I originally was going to use them as just the front of the card, but I had to cut the panels off and add the foam to the back to erase the warping).  I added Kat Scrappiness sequins in the shell shape to one of the cards and also used my sparkle glitter pens and the Tonic Nuvo Morning Dew clear drops for some added punch!  For the sentiments I used one of my favorite sets from Hero Arts called Hello Gorgeous - just the perfect sentiments to make someones day!!!  On the other I used the Simon Says Stamp set called You Matter.  I love this stamp set and die and tend to use it a lot.  It just says what I want to say so much of the time.  I then added these panels to some Stampin' Up card stock and we had two cute little piggy beach cards!

For the third card I wanted to make a pool scene of sorts so I looked up pictures of aerial views of pools and decided I could create my own!  I don't know how great it turned out, but it sure was fun to create!  I added a panel of Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes patterned paper to the center of a Simon Says Stamp card base and left two strips on the side to create the "concrete" look of the pool.  I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color that in and give it texture.  For the pool I added some lines to create the lap lines and then added the stairs on each side.  I used the navy gel pen to line these and created some shadows with the alcohol markers.  I used the Catherine Pooler inks and the Hero Arts sentiment set again for that final little fun touch.  Finally, I added the colored in pigs and included one of the piggies inside the intertube with partial foam tape to have her stand out!  I just love this - it totally made my day to create it!!!

So, that was it - I hope you enjoyed and I would love to see your creations if you decide to pick up this set.  I promise you will be smiling ear to ear as I was while I created these.  I just cannot wait to send them out!

As always, thanks for being here and spending some of your time with me.  Have an incredible day!  Jude  :-)
